Ah, the joys of waking up on a beautiful, cool morning in August. The sun is rising, birds are chirping, lips are cracking from the dry air all night and dehydrated, scaly legs are rubbing on our partners as we roll over for a morning hug… Romantic? Yeah, nah!
Welcome to dry skin season, ladies and gents.
I called my daughter Echoe a couple weeks ago to chat about life, uni, and everything in between, and when talking about the salon, I mentioned that all my clients are currently suffering dry skin, to which she responded, “Oh my skin is f**ked right now!”
(I’ll try to convince myself she didn’t get that potty mouth from me…)
She continued, “You could show me a photo of my legs right now and tell me it was a lizard and I’d probably believe you” – Not great.
So, if you’re feeling dry, crackly, and scaly right now, you’re not alone. But why exactly is this time of year so bad for dry skin??
During winter, low humidity levels and cold temperatures result in dry air which draws moisture away from the skin. Coupled with the harsh winter winds with dry indoor heat and you’ve got a recipe for absolute dry disaster.
By the time August hits, our skin has been suffering the harsh, dry conditions of winter for two months, and it just about reaches its breaking point – so it’s time to give our skin some serious TLC.
Our current Oxygen facial deal is the perfect way to revive your skin, especially by boosting your treatments. Over 6-24 weeks, we will pump some serious moisture back into the skin which winter has taken its toll on, leaving it revitalised, plump and ready for the spring sunshine.
